A Field of Opportunity

Field Day is an exercise to mimic emergency use. It is a contest to get as many contacts as you can, ideally using battery power or generator. It's a way to keep up on skills in case of an actual emergency. The contest is there to provide something to do. It is also a good reason to just get together and visit among fellow amateur radio operators and their families.

Parks On The Air

An international radiosport program with awards to encourage licensed amateur radio operators to visit, enjoy, and operate their equipment outdoors in parks and public lands. While looking to activate a park, respect other park users and park regulations.

Summits On The Air

Amateur radio operating award program that was launched in Great Britain in 2002. A global activity that encourages portable operation in mountainous areas.

CQ World Wide DX Contest

The CQ WW is the largest Amateur Radio competition in the world.
